British RAF Sterling Silver Cigarette or Cigar Box-This is a beautiful box made for or gifted to an RAF officer. It is made of sterling silver with a wooden lining inside. The front is embossed with a nice set of enameled RAF wings. There is also a faint blue stamp under the wooden inside lid. There is also a stamp of RAF wings on the inside bottom. Some of the wood from the top has separated from the edges. We have the three wood pieces should you decide to re-attach them. This box is made of a textured, toned silver. It retains the majority of its silver shine in the lowest details. It measures 6 inches (15.24cm) long, 3 inches (8.89cm) wide, and stands 2 inches (6.35cm) tall. The box itself is approx. 1 inches (4.44Cm) deep. Perfect for holding some small treasures. The right side of the box is hallmarked with H&HLd, and shows three small hallmarks representing an anchor, a lion and the letter M. These hallmarks tell us that this box was made in Birmingham, UK (anchor), with the lion passant indicating it is made of sterling silver, followed by a maker with initials H&HLd for H&H Ltd and a date letter M. the M means this box to likely date to 1911, or 1936.This is a real beauty and a cool collectible
